Every day is so crazy here at home with two girls under two but the weekends are even crazier. I usually let the house get messy, embrace the craziness, and even try to rest here and there or even do something for myself. So I gave myself a day off the computer. It was nice. :) But I did come up with a way to help us achieve our goals. Friday I posted some goals that I would like to achieve that would help steer me towards my purposes and dreams in life. Yesterday I came up with a great way to make sure I am taking the necessary steps to make these goals happen. In my planner, (which Emilie Barnes encourages every women to have and I will go into more detail on planners later this week), I am going to have a GOALS section. Then I am going to have a page for each goal section, ie. Spiritual, Physical, Family, etc. On each page I am going to list my goals and then underneath the steps I need to take to achieve this goal. For instance, this is how it would look:
SPIRITUAL
- To spend at least 15 minutes daily focusing on God.
     1. Set out Bible and prayer journal on table.
     2. Set phone & bedroom alarms for 5:30 AM.
     3. Go to sleep by 10:30 PM.
PHYSICAL (on a different page)
-To run a 5k with my husband by September 1, 2010.
    1. Research running 5k plans online.
    2. Find a 5k race online & sign up.
    3. Run on treadmill during girls' naptime every day.
FAMILY (on different page)
- To have 3 sit-down meals a day together.
     1. Make a weekly meal plan for all three meals on Wednesdays.
     2. Plan & shop weekly at grocery store for meals on Thursday/Friday.
Each section having it's own pages helps me to check off goals I have accomplished and jot down a new goal with planning steps. This can be greatly encouraging when I can look back and see what I have accomplished that is helping me to be purpose-driven and have a purpose-driven home! Some of these goals will be goals that I achieve every day, such as my spiritual and family ones, whereas the physical one can be crossed off when finished and a new one created. Also, I plan to have a couple goals that I work toward at a time. But right now, I am trying to keep it simple. If you have any other suggestions that would help in achieving our goals, please let us know! Hope this wasn't too confusing! :0)

I need more spiritual and emotional role models to help me think more outside myself than I usually do. Tsk Tsk, I know. It's why I love your blog so much. Cause I need help sometimes..
ReplyDeleteP.S. I know those little ones and your handsome man keep you busy, there are more important things than this blog. Like family. Just don't forget about us please. :-D
